On December 2, China(Sichuan) -UK Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference & Sichuan Provincial Government - Enterprise Dialogue on Servicing Foreign-funded Enterprises (UK session), co-sponsored by the CCPIT Sichuan and the UK-China Business Development Center, was held in Chengdu. This conference aims to build a communication platform between British-funded enterprises, Sichuan provincial government departments and Sichuan enterprises, promote the docking and cooperation between enterprises of both sides, and promote more British-funded enterprises to operate and invest in Sichuan. Huang Li, President of the CCPIT Sichuan, and John MacLean, Chairman of the UK-China Business Development Centre, attended and addressed the conference . Fan Jun, Vice President of CCPIT Sichuan, presided over the conference.

Huang Li said that Sichuan has just held a provincial conference on opening up and development, stressing the need to vigorously develop an open economy at a higher level, strive to build a higher level of business environment, and accelerate the construction of a strategic highland for opening up to the west and a new base for participating in international competition. This will bring great opportunities and broad space for British enterprises to develop in Sichuan. Through the establishment of a direct dialogue mechanism to speak out their demands, this conference solves problems and promote cooperation face to face, it is more conducive to promoting the upgrading of the economic and trade cooperation between Sichuan and the UK.

Mr John MacLean said that China-UK relations have entered a new stage, and the two sides will deepen cooperation in such areas as economy and trade, science and technology, finance, health care, education and climate change. Sichuan is an ideal gateway for investment and business, with rich natural resources, a vast market full of opportunities and a good business environment, providing a strategic springboard for multinational businesses to enter the Chinese market. It is a key moment for the Sichuan and UK economies to strengthen ties and deepen cooperation. Through this dialogue, China-UK can tap new potential in trade, technology, innovation, energy and infrastructure.

At the meeting, the participating British enterprises made a brief introduction. Representatives of British enterprises such as XOR, BSI British Standards Institute, CIMA Royal Institute of Chartered Management Accountants, Landau Experimental Diagnostics Co., LTD., and Masrisco (Chengdu) Trading Co., LTD., came up with the questions in industry fund support, ESG double carbon cooperation, high-end accounting talents, critical care medical services, going out to participate in the exhibition policy support, inbound tourism promotion and other issues, Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Department of Finance, Department of Human Resources and Social Security, Department of Culture and Tourism, Provincial Health Commission, CCPIT Sichuan, Sichuan Industry Revitalization Fund and other departments responsible for the on-site response.

Representatives of British companies have said that the dialogue will help them understand the policy support in Sichuan. They hope to use this platform to get to know more Sichuan companies, seek more cooperation opportunities and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results with Sichuan. In response to the business cooperation needs of British enterprises, Sichuan Chamber of International Commerce organized 36 Sichuan enterprises to discuss economic and trade with British enterprises.

Nearly 100 representatives of British institutions and enterprises, relevant departments of Sichuan Province, Chengdu, Guangyuan, Sichuan enterprises and media representatives attended the meeting.
