On September 22nd, the “The Best Gateway to Europe–Liège Airport and Its Multimodal Logistics Ecosystem Held in Sichuan”, hosted by the Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency of the Belgian Embassy in China and supported by the Sichuan Chamber of International Commerce, was successfully held in Sichuan. Wang Guangjun, Second-level Inspector of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Sichuan Council, and Didier Denayer, Counselor of the Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency of the Belgian Embassy in China, attended the conference and delivered speeches.
Wang Guangjun stated that, Belgium is an important cooperation partner for Sichuan in its “Opening-up to the West” Initiative, with fruitful cooperation achievements in areas such as economy and trade, investment, logistics, and sister-city construction. The European Union (EU) is Sichuan’s third-largest trading partner and a key source of foreign investment. As the location of the EU headquarters, Belgium serves as the best gateway to Europe and a crucial bridge for Sichuan-Europe cooperation. He expressed the hope that through this event, Sichuan enterprises will gain an in-depth understanding of the advantages of Belgium’s logistics ecosystem and find the “golden key” to expanding into the European market; at the same time, Belgian enterprises will perceive the potential of the Sichuan market and explore new opportunities for collaborative development with Sichuan enterprises.
The event brought together representatives from 14 Belgian logistics enterprises, which collectively showcased and promoted the modern logistics ecosystem centered on Liège Airport (Belgium). Detailed introductions were given to its unique advantages in air cargo transportation, fast customs clearance, intelligent warehousing, multimodal transportation connection (integrating road, railway, and river transport), anda distribution network covering the entire European region. For the rapidly developing cross-border e-commerce sector, the Belgian side also presented customized logistics solutions, providing new paths and options for Sichuan enterprises to enter the European market efficiently and reliably.
The Sichuan Chamber of International Commerce organized representatives from over 30 enterprises to participate in the event, including Sinotrans Sichuan Co., Ltd., Meishan Port Investment Multimodal Transport Co., Ltd., COSCO SHIPPING Airlines Cargo Agency Co., Ltd. Chengdu Branch, and Chengdu Baide Postal Special Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. These enterprises gained in-depth insights into the development advantages and opportunities of Belgium’s logistics industry–particularly the strategic position and operational practices of Liège Airport as a major logistics hub in Europe–and established direct connections with Belgian logistics enterprises. This laid a solid foundation for deepening and expanding logistics industry cooperation between the two regions, building efficient trade channels, and promoting economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
Staff from the International Relations Department of CCPIT Sichuan Council and the Sichuan Chamber of International Commerce also attended the event.
