MIT-CHIEF Western China Cooperation Base Unveiled in Chengdu

The MIT-CHIEF Western China Cooperation Base jointly built by the MIT-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum and the Association of Chengdu Talent Development Promotion was unveiled in Chengdu on June 25th. By establishing communication and cooperation platforms, more talent from all around the world will come to Chengdu for start-up business.

The MIT-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum started to conduct the “Entrepreneurship Project China Tour” activities since 2013. It leads North American scientific entrepreneurship groups to make circuit road shows in Chinese first- and second-tier cities every year to help them cooperate with companies in industrial parks, seek partners and solve financing problems.

The Forum made its debut at the series of activities held by the 2016 China (Chengdu) Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair. In addition to jointly build the Western China Cooperation Base with the Association of Chengdu Talent Development Promotion, the Forum also brought 15 excellent entrepreneur teams, who won the highest prize in different competitions and passed repeated selections in America. Among them, five groups made road shows at the meeting venue.

The same day, the Association of Chengdu Talent Development Promotion formed a friendship association with the WRSA Entrepreneurship Alliance. (June 26th, Sichuan Daily/Chen Bihong)

Mianyang Cross-Border E-Commerce Customs Clearance Platform Officially Operated

The Visa Application Center for the Netherlands in Chengdu was officially opened on May 30th. Chengdu citizens can obtain a visa to the Netherlands on their doorstep within 48 hours.

The Netherlands Visa Application Center, at Room 2012, Building B, Times Plaza, No. 2 Zongfu Road, Jinjiang District, Chengdu, is now open for applications for business visas, tourist visas and visas for family visits. Citizens can get a visa for a short stay of 90 days within 48 hours, and the application fee is only EUR 84.

The Center will provide more high-quality and special services, such as temporary appointments, dealing with Schengen Visa application problems through phone calls to the Call Center, and handling visa application status inquiries via the Internet or messages. In addition, the new Application Center will also record the biometric data of the applicants and submit visa applications according to Schengen provisions.

Sichuan has had frequent economic and trade cooperation with the Netherlands in recent years. The total volume reached USD 3 billion in 2015.

Apart from Chengdu, the Netherlands will also open visa application centers in Hangzhou and Shenzhen in the near future. Visa centers in Fuzhou, Jinan, Nanjing and Shenyang have been opened in succession in spring this year, while those in Changsha, Kunming, Wuhan and Xi'an will be open in autumn. The First Non-Stop Air Route from Chengdu to Prague Will Open on August 12th

The Chengdu-Prague air route opened this February will be reset for regular non-stop flights from August 12th. The flights will depart every Tuesday and Friday, and it will take about ten hours to fly from Chengdu to Prague. This is the first non-stop China-Europe air line in Western China, and the second European air line opened by Sichuan Airlines after the Chengdu-Moscow air line.

The non-stop flight from Chengdu to Prague will be more convenient than transferring in Amsterdam, Frankfurt and other European cities. At least three hours will be saved during the whole journey and passengers will be free from a series of complicated and troublesome transfer formalities. According to the relevant personnel from the Marketing Department of Sichuan Airlines, many other flights from Chengdu to Western China and all parts of the country can also take this route. In virtue of the 72-hour transit visa-free policy, Chengdu, known as the “Fourth Aviation City”, attracted more passengers coming to transfer to international flights.

The Czech Republic, in central Europe, can complement with many regions in the west part of China. Many Chinese investors treat the Czech Republic as their first choice for investment. The production base of Sichuan Changhong has become the largest manufacturing project of Sichuan in the Czech Republic. The non-stop Chengdu-Prague air line will link Western China to Central and Eastern Europe, and will be conducive to the implementation of the “the Belt and Road” initiative. The 2016 3rd G20 Financial Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting Held in Chengdu

The 3rd G20 Financial Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting was held in Chengdu from July 23rd to 24th 2016. Finance minister, Lou Jiwei, and president of the People’s Bank of China, Zhou Xiaochuan, hosted the meeting. Discussions were held at the meeting about the current global economic situation, the “framework of powerful, sustainable and balanced development”, international financial structure, investment and infrastructure, reform of finance departments, international taxation cooperation, green finance, climate funds, and anti-terrorism financing. The relevant main achievements have been reviewed and a communiqué of the meeting has been published for the 2016 G20 Hangzhou Summit.

A commitment was made at the meeting that further action should be taken to revive worldwide trade and boost investment.

Relevant experts thought that although the global economy is reviving, it is still fragile and downside risks still exist. The result of the UK’s EU Referendum added some uncertainty to the global economy. G20 members have been ready to cope with the potential economic and financial impacts brought about by the UK’s EU Referendum, and they hope Britain will remain a close partner of the EU. Some indicated that G20 was taking actions to enhance confidence and accelerate economic growth, and restated that they would use all political tools including currency, financial, and structural reform policy alone and together to achieve strong, sustainable, balanced, and inclusive growth. It was committed that currency policy will keep supporting economic activities and preserving price stability. In reference to the pivotal role of structural reform, someone also emphasized that finance strategy played an equally important role in achieving common growth. Policy measures that are fit for all countries, and may be taken as occasion requires, are still under research. In order to avoid competitive devaluations and a pegged exchange rate, and to resist all kinds of protectionism, close exchange and communication on the foreign exchange market will be maintained.

The G20 agenda for deepening structural reform was reviewed and approved at the meeting. The guiding principle for structural reform on the nine fields confirmed at the Conference of Washington in this April was set, and a monitoring and evaluation indicator system for structural reform passed the deliberation. G20 has made new progress in implementing the growth strategy and will finish the upgrade of this and the calling account before the 2016 G20 Hangzhou Summit. Relevant authorities will take further action to revive global trade and enhance investment efforts to relieve an excessive imbalance and to advocate inclusive growth when pursuing for economic growth.

More than 11 multilateral development banks made commitments, including setting quantitative objects in the Joint Vision Statement on Supporting Infrastructure Investment Action, announcing the establishment of the Global Infrastructure Interconnection Alliance, and accepting the Policy Guidelines on G20/OECD Infrastructure and SMEs Financing Tools Diversification. The G20/OECD Corporate Governance Principles and the Advanced Principles on G20/OECD SMEs Financing were allowed to be effectively implemented.

The IFA Working Group’s suggestion to further perfect the global financial structure was approved. Efforts to protect the IMF-based Global Financial Safety Net will be enhanced to embrace the upcoming joint drills of the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralization and IMF. The 15th overall share inspection, including a new share formula, is expected to be finished by IMF before the 2017 Annual Meeting. The World Bank Group was supported in implementing the deliberation results in accordance with the route map and time schedule. Unceasing efforts will be made to include the strengthened contract terms in the sovereign bond. In order to discuss and solve a series of sovereign debt problems, the Paris Club was authorized to be the major international official bilateral debt restructuring platform and attract more newly-developing creditor countries. China was welcomed to participate in the Paris Club Meeting and encouraged to play a more constructive role. The identity problem of potential members will be put forward for further discussion. Analysis and monitoring of capital flow, as well as risk control on the undue fluctuation of capital flow, need to be improved. Research will be done to make the utmost use of the SDR.

It was indicated that the market unrest and uncertainty highlighted the significance of establishing an open and anti-risk financial system. The rest of the core work for setting up a regulatory framework will be done and it has been agreed that the financial reform will be implemented timely, comprehensively, and consistently. The on-going macro prudential framework and tool summarizing work conducted by international organizations got great support. The Advanced Principle for G20 Digital Inclusive Finance, the Updated Version of G20 Inclusive Financial Index System and the Implementation Framework for G20 SMEs Financing Action Plan were accepted. All relevant countries and areas under administration were encouraged to implement the BEPS and participate in the inclusive framework equally. The objective criterions on identifying tax transparency uncooperative areas under administration submitted by the OECD was approved. The importance of taxation policy that accelerates economic growth and taxation certainty has been realized. The OECD and IMF were asked to finish the related follow-up work. The recent terrorist attack received strong condemnation. All countries will unite as one to fight against terrorism and destroy all resources, technologies, and channels of terrorist financing. In order to realize sustainable global economic growth, it is necessary to popularize green investment and financing. The G20 Green Finance Comprehensive Report and the optional measures for developing green finance put forward by the Green Finance Research Group won high appraisal. In addition, the Climate Funds Research Group was encouraged to do research on “providing and raising climate funds to mitigate and accommodate the climate in an effective and transparent way”. On the basis of conforming to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, relevant work on climate funds problems will be carried out in succession next year. Our representatives introduced the current situation and development environment of the Sichuan wedding industry, and invited Ms. Yumi Katsura to lead her groups to Sichuan to build wedding halls, cooperate with Sichuan companies, develop the western market, and realize win-win cooperation. Ms. Yumi Katsura shared her valuable experience and feeling about the work, and gave us some advice. She told us she was 84 years old, had been engaged in the wedding dress design work for 50 years, and she would keep going because she loved this job. She emphasized that when developing the wedding industry, we should always remember to preserve our customs and traditional culture, which left a deep impression on us. It reminded us that in order to endow the industry with a longer development prospect, we needed to respect our traditional customs and absorb the contemporary fashion reasonably. The delegation also visited the most famous Japanese wedding hotel, Meguro Gajoen Hotel, and some other wedding venues, and had a close experience with the traditional and contemporary Japanese wedding customs, etiquette and culture.

During the stay in Japan, the delegation visited JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) which is the partner of the CCPIT Sichuan Council. “Black Technologies” are here! China (Chengdu) Smart Industry International Expo Invited You to Create the Future Together

With the theme based on industry, looking forward to the future, and building a well-known smart industry exhibition platform in the southwest part of the city, the 2016 China (Chengdu) Smart Industry International Expo, sponsored by the Sichuan Provincial Promotion Group Office of Information Security Industrial Development and the CCPIT Sichuan Council, will be unveiled in the Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center on August 3rd.

Serving as the only smart industry expo in southwestern China, the Expo, which collected “black technology” products from numerous famous companies, can provide valuable opportunities for many scientific and technological magnates to take up the southwestern smart industry market.

With an area covering a total of 20,000 m2, The 1st China (Chengdu) Smart Industry International Expo had 103 exhibitors in total, mainly displaying products and technologies related to smart manufacturing, information technology, smart city, smart home, intelligent security protection, and digital entertainment.

Many famous domestic leading companies like Inspur, Changhong, iSoftStone, HIKVISION, VDIN, China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom will display their cutting-edge products, technologies, and solutions at the Expo.

Within the 600m2 space, Sichuan intelligent manufacturing industry representative companies will gather together in the Sichuan Intelligent Manufacturing Exhibition Zone to showcase their achievements in the establishment of smart cities and the intelligent manufacturing industry. These companies are from eight important cities and prefectures for smart industry development in Sichuan including Yibin, Meishan, Leshan, Liangshan, Guangyuan, Deyang, Ya’an, and Zigong. The local “black technologies” are particularly interesting.

All sorts of hi-tech products and advanced technologies that only exist in our imagination of life in the future can be seen at the Expo.

Life in the future is like this.

[Visible Changes] Smart Home, VR Equipment, Intelligent Security Protection

In the future, robots will clean your home for you, turn on your lights and adjust them to the most comfortable brightness, turn on the TV and change it to your favorite channel, adjust the temperature of the air conditioning to the proper degree, and run a bath for you. The intelligent electrical apparatus and robots will be able to give you a “noble” life in the near future.

Changhong, Jiangsu, NTU Electronic Information, and other famous companies will display their smart homes, robots and other smart products at the Expo. You can experience the intelligent life in advance. The advanced technology like situation reactions, remote controls, and self perception and judgment, as well as accessible smart home products, will change your understanding of modern life.

Life in the future is also full of danger. The intelligent security protection products can keep you away from danger. HIKVISION, VDIN, Infinova, and other leading intelligent security protection product manufacturers will display their monitoring equipment, sensors, and security terminals at the Expo.

In addition to safety, the most important thing in life is to be happy. VR (Virtual Reality) technology will become the mainstream of entertainment in the future. Local VR companies like Jingcheng Yinuo will bring about their latest VR products. You will enter into a brand new world after wearing a pair of special glasses. (Tip: Best not to behave comically when wearing the VR glasses in case of any embarrassment.)

In addition, DJI, China Graphics, Winshare, WJP, and Spaceon will bring their UAV, smart education, smart medical treatment, beidou watches, and other products here. These products will provide protection, convenience, and pleasure to your life.

[Invisible changes] Intelligent Manufacturing, Smart Cities, Big Data, Information Security

How to make the products? In the future, you will never see workers working in a factory. Workshops are machines. Materials sent into the factories will be made into different hi-tech products by robots, automatic control machine tools, and production control systems. The “Sichuan Intelligent Manufacturing Exhibition Zone” will be specially set up for the Expo. Many competitive intelligent manufacturing companies will show up at that time. Entrepreneurs, business owners, and plant managers will have the chance to watch robots working and feel the powerful function of intelligent manufacturing. All kind of smart products that have been widely applied will appear at the Expo, including Keidel robot, ZJL industrial robot, etc.

In addition to the manufacturing industry, other changes are quietly taking place in our city. The changes have brought about great convenience to people and met requirements for different people. In order to build a smart city, people try to realize IoE (Internet of Everything), intelligent perception, dynamic regulation, and intelligent decisions with IoT (Internet of Things) and big data. Yibin, Guangyuan, Zigong, and Deyang will demonstrate their achievements on building a smart city at the Expo. The big data cloud computing services and big data appliances of companies including Inspur, iSoftStone, Shuzhilian, and Incitedata, as well as the internet layer of the smart city designed by China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom, the smart street lamps produced by Huati, and other various smart city infrastructures and terminal products, will give you an impressive experience of a smart and convenient urban life.

All the aforementioned products are derived from the internet. The interconnection of the internet laid a solid foundation for the industrial development, but also resulted in some hidden troubles, like the leakage of information. Under the leadership of CETC, many Chinese information security companies will display the most cutting-edge information protection technology in China. They will bear the responsibility to protect our online privacy from being violated.

The 2016 China (Chengdu) Smart Industry International Expo will certainly become the “milestone” event in the development process of the Sichuan smart industry. The organizing committee invites you on August 3rd to experience “black technology” and to create a better future together at Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center.

A series of grand activities, including the World CIO Forum 2016, the 2016 China Internet and Information Security Conference, the 2016 China (Sichuan) Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Cooperation Forum, and the 2016 G.L.A., will be held in succession during this period. You may have the opportunity to see some great people at this time. Please keep following us for more information.
