The structure of Sichuan service trade has been further optimized,

Newly-emerged services trade account for 68.3% of exports and imports

In areas such as finance, consulting, and mobile networks, Sichuan has been frequently interacted with international market, accelerating the optimization of service trade structure. In the first half of 2014, the imports and exports of Sichuan service trade reached 5.43 billion USD, increased by 16% compared to the same period last year. Among them, newly-emerged services trade account for 68.3% of exports and imports, 11.6% higher compared to the percentage for the same period last year.  

In the first half of 2014, the export value of Sichuan service trade reaches 2.76 billion USD, increased by 19.3% compared to the same period last year, among them newly-emerged services trade account for 83.2%, 9% higher than the percentage for the same period last year. At the same time, the imports and exports of Sichuan management consulting services (including laws, accounting, and advertising, etc.), financial services, and insurance services increased by 24.1%, 47.2%, 387.4% respectively. The introduction of business services such as management consulting would facilitate the integration, innovation, and upgrading of business models, and drive the development of manufacturing and service industries; finance, insurance services grow fast, providing strong safeguard for Sichuan companies “going out”.

In the first half of 2014, the imports and exports of Sichuan travel services reaches 1.06 billion USD, increased by 21.1% compared to the same period last year. Among them, exports increased by 6.3% compared to the same period last year, imports increased by 21.6% compared to the same period last year. Travel services remain a steady growth, reflecting the structural upgrading of Sichuan household consumption, demands for high-quality tourism, studying abroad, and health care continue to grow. The imports and exports of transportation services of last year reaches 0.17 billion USD, and in the first half of 2014, the number would reach 0.1 billion USD.

The development of culture trade accelerates. In the first half of 2014, the imports and exports of Sichuan culture and entertainment services reach 5,200,000 USD, increased by 435.5% compared to the same period last year, among them the imports and exports of visual or audio and related services increased by 91.9% compared to the same period last year. Newly-started technological improvement projects have experienced a growth, first in this year

Sichuan completed industrial technological improvement investment 278.6 billion Yuan in the first 7 months of 2014, increased by 6.9% compared to the same period last year, growth rate dropped by 0.3% compared to the first half of 2014. The number of newly-started technological improvement projects has increased by 2.3% compared to the same period last year, achieving the first positive growth since the beginning of this year.

The seven advantageous industries are still the main investment area for technological improvement. In the first 7 months of 2014, technological improvement investment in the seven advantageous industries of Sichuan has accumulatively reached 190.1 billion Yuan, accounting for 68.2% of total technological improvement investment in Sichuan. At the same time, investment of technological improvement in traditional industries has been further increased, traditional industries such as coal and textile completed technological improvement investment of 159.3 billion Yuan in total, accounting for 57.2% of total technological improvement investment in Sichuan, increased by 0.7% compared to the same period last year.    

South Sichuan Economic Zone has contributed most to technological improvement. In the first 7 months of 2014, South Sichuan Economic Zone invested 72.6 billion Yuan in technological improvement, increased by 11.3% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 41.1% of Sichuan technological improvement investment. Technological investment in Chengdu, Northeast Sichuan Economic Zone also grows steadily, increased by 8.1% and 4.5% respectively. Technological improvement investment in Suining, Luzhou, Ziyang, Meishan, Liangshan all achieved fast and steady growth, with growth rate all above 20%, among them the growth rate of technological improvement investment is the highest in Ziyang, which amounts to 38.2%. In China, Chengdu is the first choice of investment for European capital

In the “list” of destinations for FDI in China, Chengdu became the first choice city for European capital.

In 2014, European companies in China lowered their expectation for the Chinese market, at the same time the percentage of companies invested in China who expand businesses in other provinces also decreased from 50% last year to 45% this year, what is worth mentioning is these 45% companies list Chengdu as their first city choice in expanding business, and the percentage of selection is higher than past years. The growth rate of Chengdu exports and imports in the first half of 2014 is 12% higher than the national average

From January to June, Total Retail Sales of Consumer Goods of Chengdu reaches 205.084 billion Yuan, increased by 13% compared to the same period last year, growth rate is 0.9% higher than the national average; achieving total value of imports and exports 26.843 billion USD, increased by 12.74%, 12% higher than national average. 

In the first half of 2014, exports of Chengdu reached 16.618 billion USD, increased by 8.86%, 8% higher than national average; growth of imports value is 18% higher than national average. Among them, electromechanical and high-technological products are highlights in exports, the accumulative exports of Dell alone reached 2.436 billion USD, increased by more than 95%. Agricultural products exports of Sichuan in the first half of 2014 increased by 26.3% compared to the same period last year

From January to June this year, the trade volume of Sichuan agriculture products has reached 0.72 billion USD, increased by 45.7% compared to the same period last year, among them exports volume 0.41 billion USD, increased by 26.3% compared to the same period last year; imports volume 0.31 billion USD, increased by 83.0% compared to the same period last year. Chengdu representative office of Taiwan Trade Centre unveil its nameplate

On 26th of August, the opening ceremony of Chengdu representative office of Taiwan Trade Centre was held. This is the first and the only representative office of Taiwan Trade Centre established in the west of mainland China, responsible for contacting regions such as Sichuan, Chongqing, Qinghai, Xinjiang, and Tibet.

Taiwan Trade Centre is the most important trade promotion institute in Taiwan, and there are more than 60 offices around the world. Currently, the center has established 6 offices, which are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Qingdao, Dalian, and 4 contact points, which are Nanking, Wuhan, Xiamen, Nanning, actively facilitating economic and trade cooperation across the strait, especially providing more convenient and timelier trade consulting services to companies in Taiwan and mainland China, is an important platform for economic and trade communication and cooperation across the strait.

 

Chengdu and Hamilton will become friendship cities

The proposal for deliberation on forming friendship relationship between Chengdu City and Hamilton City, New Zealand filed by Chengdu government was approved by NPC Standing Committee of Chengdu, planning to facilitate the official signing of agreement between two parties within this year.

Hamilton City is located at North County, North Island, New Zealand, is the fourth largest city and the largest inland city in New Zealand, acreage approximately 98 km2, population approximately 150,000, is world-class agriculture and husbandry center, enjoying the reputation of “The Capital of World Dairy Products”; here is also one of the cities with the highest density of scientists in the world, having universities such as Waikato Institute of Technology, University of Waikato, and Hamilton Normal University, which is praised as “International Education City”. The general planning of Luzhou Yunlong Airport has passed the examination by Chengdu Air

On 19th of August, the general planning of Luzhou Yunlong Airport has passed the examination by Chengdu Air, the civil aviation part has been sent to Southwest Civil Aviation Administration Bureau for approval, the preliminary design of airport flying district and the design of working drawings have been completed; the regulatory project for rebuilt roads have started, subgrade construction has been basically completed.

In recent years, the business of Luzhou Lantian Airport continues to grow at a rate above 20%, in 2013, the passenger throughput capacity of the airport reaches 439600 people, in the first half of 2014, the passenger throughput capacity of the airport reaches 352200 people, increased by 85.1% compared to the same period last year, existing airports can no longer satisfy the increased air transportation needs in Luzhou and surrounding regions, there is an urgent need to relocate Luzhou Airport.

Luzhou New Airport (Yunlong Airport) started construction in October, 2013. The standard setting of this airport is 4D grade, after completion annual passenger throughput capacity would reach more than 800000 people. The major projects of Meishan Modern Industry New City release production capacities

In the first half of 2014, the construction of 54 major industrial projects within the Meishan Modern Industry New City District went smoothly, achieving industrial fixed assets investment 6.293 billion Yuan, increased by 31.3% compared to the same period last year; 22 city-level major projects went smoothly, achieving investment 3.215 billion Yuan, completing 85.7% of annual objectives.

The Modern Industrial New City, stringing together by 7 industrial parks of Meishan City, already had 5 World 500 Fortune Companies such as Unilever, 63 companies whose annual sales are above 0.1 billion Yuan and primary business income reaches 40 billion Yuan last year. From January to June, Modern Industrial New City achieved primary business income of 21.851 billion Yuan, increased by 11.1% (5th of August, Sichuan Daily)

 

Throughput capacity of Sichuan harbors increased by 12.98% before August

In July, The throughput capacity of Sichuan harbors reach 6010000 tons, increased by 22.41% compared to the same period last year; from January to July, Sichuan has accumulatively completed harbor throughput of 52.02 tons, increased by 12.98% compared to the same period last year. It is mainly because the steady growth of Luzhou harbor and Yibing harbor. Luzhou harbor completed a throughput of 17300000 tons, increased by 13.24% compared to the same period last year, Yibing harbor completed a throughput of 8260000 tons, increased by 47.87% compared to the same period last year. The throughput of Sichuan harbor containers reaches 227085 standard cases, increased by 100.77% compared to the same period last year, among them: the throughput of Luzhou harbor is 153541 standard cases, increased by 84.98% compared to the same period last year, the throughput of Yibing harbor is 73522 standard cases, increased by 144.23% compared to the same period last year. More than 40 Fortune 500 electronics companies settled in Sichuan

From 2003 Intel settled in Chengdu, Microsoft, Huawei, Texas Instruments, Dell, Compal, Foxconn, and Wistron all came to Sichuan to secure a first-mover advantage, currently there are more than 40 Fortune 500 electronic companies, more than 20 top 100 domestic electronic companies in Sichuan.

Giant companies continue to enter Sichuan, driving Sichuan’s electronics and information industry to grow at a rate above 20% in recent years, last year, the primary business income of Sichuan electronics and information industry reaches approximately 570 billion Yuan, total amount ranked 7th in China, 1st in middle west of China. The project of China Railway Southwest Headquarter laid its foundation

On 12th of August, The project of China Railway Southwest Headquarter held the foundation-stone-laying ceremony at Chengdu directly-administered district, Tianfu New District (Qinhuang Temple, Central Business District), project total investment 1.7 billion Yuan, after completion would perform the function of investment and financing, construction and management for China Railway projects in Southeast China.

With the construction of this project and other headquarter projects signed to locate in Central Business District, the development and construction of Chengdu directly-administered district, Tianfu New District now officially enters into the stage of fast development. Chengdu directly-administered district, Tianfu New District currently has 108 fixed assets investment projects, total investment of 132.38 billion Yuan, this year planning to complete 32 billion Yuan of investment, among them from January to May, already completed 8.35 billion Yuan of investment, increased by 47.6% compared to the same period last year, the growth rate ranked first among counties and districts in Chengdu. The cargo throughput capacity of West Railway Logistics Centre ranked No.1 in China

Since the operation of West China Railway Logistics Centre in April, 2010, there are accumulatively 1510000 standard cases of cargo throughput, ranked first in China, the number of trains to Europe, through Chengdu-Europe express train, also ranked first in China.

West China Railway Logistics Centre is located at Qingbaijiang Logistics Park of Chengdu, is an important logistic hub on Yangtze River Economic Belt and Silk Road Economic Belt, shouldering the responsibility of providing a stable, convenient, and safe logistic passage for economic and trade activities among West China, Middle East, Europe, and the Commonwealth of the Independent States. After the opening of Chengdu-Europe Express Train in April last year, in July of 2014, the first Middle East Cargo Train departed from West China Railway Logistics Centre, the two golden international passages connect the Silk Road Economic Belt, which has a total population of 3 billion, strengthening the connection between West China Railway Logistics Centre and Europe-Asia. “We are the first in China to come up with cargo train station, logistics base, international harbor, bonded logistics, industrial concentration district, and trade market”, which is the mode of “Six in One, Seamless Connection”. Relevant government personnel in charge of Chengdu Qingbaijiang District says, in the first half of 2014 West China Railway Logistics Centre completed fixed assets investment 1.99 billion Yuan, achieving total tax revenue of 0.102 billion Yuan, having the annual throughput capacity of 100000 standard cases of imports and exports containers.

Currently, West China Railway Logistics Centre is working hard to establish cooperative relationship among places such as Lodz of Poland, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Alataw Pass, Khorgos, Erenhot, Chongqing, and Luzhou, in the next stage would open 5 container trains from Chengdu to Qinzhou, achieving deep integration between train logistics and ocean logistics, making West China Railway Logistics Centre a train logistic hub connecting the world. Leshan will build the Southwest New-house Low-carbon Incubation Park

On 18th of August, the construction project of Southwest New-house Low-carbon Incubation Park was signed in Leshan, planning to invest 6 billion Yuan, to build an industrial base for new-house residence, which has the biggest demonstration effects in China. 

The land use of this park is 3000 mu, located at Leshan Industrial Concentration District, aiming to use new-house industry to drive the development of traditional building materials, the transformation and upgrading of building industry, and the incubation of new low-carbon industry.

This project intends to build a low-carbon industrial park, which mainly comprised by information technology, new energy technology, biological technology, and space technology, facilitating new-type urbanization in Leshan and surrounding areas. (20th of August, Sichuan Daily)

Sichuan-Chongqing E-business Trade Centre for Bulk Commodity was registered and incorporated in Meigu County, Liangshan.

Sichuan-Chongqing E-business Trade Centre for Bulk Commodity aims to promote high-quality local goods of Liangshan such as Meigu Nanhong agate and to expand its distribution channel, leading high-quality Daliangshan mine products into the high-end international market.

Sichuan-Chongqing E-business Trade Centre for Bulk Commodity plans to achieve the following within 2 to 3 years after registration and incorporation: the number of member companies with registered capital more than 5 million Yuan 100; the trade volume of main products pass 400 billion Yuan; achieving main trade volume of 2000 billion Yuan in 3 years; enter top 3 in the industry. The Development and Investment Conference for Sichuan automobile industry opened

To attract more auto companies to invest in Sichuan, facilitating the clustering and intensive development of Sichuan auto industry, on 25th to 26th of August, the Development and Investment Conference for Sichuan automobile industry was sponsored by Sichuan government in Chengdu. Representatives of more than 300 well-known auto companies, such as Geely,Korea Hyundai, FAW-VW, BYD, Valeo, Michelin, and Volvo, attend the conference. Among them, World Fortune 500 companies 19, China Fortune 500 16, Top 100 companies of the Industry 34, board chairmen or general managers 180 in total.

The trade value of Mianyang E-business reaches 71.4 billion Yuan in the first half of 2014

The trade value of Mianyang E-business reaches 71.4 billion Yuan in the first half of 2014, increased by 78.3% compared to the same period last year, among them the trade volume of online retailing reaches 2.16 billion Yuan, increased by 64.5% compared to the same period last year.

At the end of 2013, Mianyang set up “E-business Development Fund” with 5 million Yuan, specifically supporting the development of e-business companies and e-business platforms. After a period of incubation, there are already 30 self-built e-business platforms, almost 1000 companies who opened online stores on third-party platforms. 

In addition, through the construction of e-business concentration district, Mianyang provides the necessary development conditions for e-business companies. Currently, the e-business base in the 30000 km2 Technological Development Zone is taking shape, e-business and information software companies and groups, such as Changhong Jiahua, Kerui Software, Lingchuang Incubator, Cuomi Technology, and Internet Alliance, more than 150 moved to the base. On 22th of August, The 11th Chinese Medicines (medicines for various nationalities) Expo was held in Mianyang, attracting more than 500 hospital directors from many Chinese medicine hospitals, and more than 10000 Chinese medicines and medical instruments producers and distributors to attend.

The exhibited products of this expo include Chinese patent medicine, Chinese herbal medicine, Chinese medicinal materials, health products, Chinese medicine diagnosis equipments, and health care instruments, etc., during the expo, a series of activities such as “Symposium on County-level Public Chinese Medicine Hospital Reform”, “Symposium on hospitals of Chinese Medicine Development Fund”, and “Training Courses for Certified Chinese Medicine Pharmacists in Southwest China”.

As a large communicative platform for Chinese medicine industry, this expo attracts many companies, such as Chinese medicinal materials plantation companies, Chinese medicine processing companies, and Chinese medicine diagnosis equipments production companies and experts. On 29th of August, The 2014 (the 17th) Chengdu International Auto Show was opened at Chengdu Shijicheng New International Expo Centre. Chengdu International Auto Show is one of the four big auto shows in China. This show exhibits 102 auto brands, the direct participation rate of manufacturers is up to 98%. In the morning of 22th, August, 2014, President Li Gang met with the new consul general of Pakistan Chengdu Consulate General, Amna, Baloch, and her entourage.

President Li Gang warmly welcomed the first visitation by consul general of Pakistan Chengdu Consulate General, Amna, Baloch. At the same time, he expressed his thanks for the support the association has received from Pakistan Chengdu Consulate General. He pointed out, the friendship between China and Pakistan has a long history. CCPIT Sichun Council will always keep a friendly cooperation relationship with Pakistan Chengdu Consulate General and Pakistan Business Associations. The “China (Sichuan)- South Asia Economic and Trade Roundtable Conference “and “China-Sichuan Imported Goods Expo” organized by our Sichuan Council each year have all received firm support from Pakistan Chengdu Consulate General. He hoped that both parties can strengthen existing results, further increase communication, together promoting economic and trade cooperation between Sichuan and Pakistan to a new level.  

Consul general of Pakistan Chengdu Consulate General, Amna, Baloch first expressed her thanks for the continuous support by President Li Gang and CCPIT Sichuan Council, willing to further expand the friendly relationship with our association. She also recommended activities such as the Pakistan Expo, which is held each year in October at Qasim, and the “Pakistan-China Business Forum”, which will be held in Istanbul from 27th March to 30th March of 2015.

On 29th of August, 2014, The Pakistan Business Opportunity Roadshow was held in CCPIT Sichuan Council. Vice president of CCPIT Sichuan Council Li Li, Vice Supervisor Wang Youping, consul general of Pakistan Chengdu Consulate General, Amna, Baloch, business consul Mr. Habuli, Vice Dean of Information Technology Academic Association, Pakistan South Sustainable Development Technology Committee, Doctor Halong, Laxide, Doctor Sakui, Abasi, and more than 10 Sichuan companies attend the meeting.

In the meeting, Vice president Li Li welcomed Pakistan friends, expressing the willingness of CCPIT Sichuan Council to build platform for companies, doing match-making work to connect more and more Sichuan companies with “going out “intentions with foreign institutes and companies.

Afterwards, Information Technology Academic Association, Pakistan South Sustainable Development Technology Committee and Pakistan Chengdu Consulate General introduced 2014 Pakistan Expo and Pakistan-China Business Forum to Sichuan companies respectively, and answered questions regarding Pakistan raised by participating companies.

 

The Indian Business Opportunity Lecture was held in Chengdu

The Indian Business Opportunity Lecture cosponsored by CCPIT Sichuan Council and India-China Economic and Culture Association was held in Chengdu on 5th of September, 2014. More than 100 people from many Sichuan industries, such as energy, electronics, electronic information, mechanical and auto manufacturing, agricultural foods, health care equipment, medicine, building material, and furniture, attend the lecture.

General Secretary of India-China Economic and Culture Association Saqibu and Indian D.H Law firm Santuoshi talked in detail regarding subjects such as “how to do business with India; Indian market and opportunities; how to enter Indian market”, at the same time they introduced that the new Indian premier minister Muddy adopted an open-door policy in developing Indian economy, it is now the best timing for entering Indian market, especially in infrastructure, energy, mechanical equipments, technology, finance where opportunities are abundant. They pointed out the biggest trade problem facing India and China now and in the coming years is the increasing trade deficit, a pure imports and exports trade would encounter more and more resistance, and how to fully utilize Indian human resources, lands, and resources, combing our own money, production technology, and management skills, to promote mutual development through cooperation and joint ventures is a problem facing companies. At the same time, representatives of Sichuan companies asked questions about Indian market and actively interacted with them.

President of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Jiang Zengwei, Secretary of Hunan Provincial Party Committee Xu Shousheng, governor of Hunan Province, Du Jiahao, president of Pan-America Development Bank Moleiruo attended the meeting and made speeches.

Leaders of South American and Caribbean nations such as commerce Minster of Barbados Tangweier, Denies, trade minister of Costa Rica Alexander Mola, finance minister of Uruguay Mario, Belljiala, and industry and trade minister of Paraguay Gusitawo, Laite and ambassadors and business consuls from 17 South American and Caribbean countries such as Mexico, Argentina, Columbia, and Jamaica attended the meeting. During the two-day meeting, focusing on improving China-South America Economic, Trade, and Investment cooperation, hotly discussing topics such as strategic industries, technological innovation, information, new-type urbanization and sustainable agriculture, more than 1000 one-on-one meeting were held between 350 people from approximately 30 South American and Caribbean countries and 800 entrepreneurs from more than 20 Chinese provinces.  

To further understand market need and industry development status of South America, helping companies “going out” to expand South American market, President Li Gang of CCPIT Sichuan Council, along with representatives from more than 10 companies such as Dongfangdianqi limited company, Huaxi Energy Industry Limited Company, Sichuan Zhiyuan Outward Economic Technological Cooperation Limited Company, attended the meeting. Dongfangdianqi limited company communicated with Jamaican WYNLEE Company regarding cooperation in developing Caribbean electricity market, exchanging ideas on possible cooperation mode and cooperation place, the other company said it would provide relevant information as soon as possible. 

Huaxi Energy Industry Limited Company discussed with Brazilian Wanliya Group regarding investment in coal electricity, bio-electricity BOT and EPC, forming a preliminary contact for further communication. Chengdu Hengxin Construction Limited Company exchanged ideas with Uruguay BVO Construction Company, Argentina ECR SOLAR Company and Mexico ELUINNI Company on subjects such as construction design experiences and residential and family house construction, reaching intentions for cooperation.

During the meeting, President Li Gang attended many important activities such as the opening ceremony, China-South America Finance and Investment Meeting, and China-South America Trade Promotion Institutes and Business Associations Roundtable Meeting. In the Trade Promotion Institutes Roundtable Meeting, president Li Gang looked back on economic and trade cooperation between our association and 15 South American business associations in recent years, hoping to fully function as bridge and platform for promoting economic exchanges and trade, through various forms such as organize entrepreneurs’ delegation to hold expo and attend expo, hold one-on-on business meetings, and participate in South America Summit, and he also invites business associations from South America to attend economic and trade activities organized by our association.

In the meeting, Ecuador-China Business Association, Brazil-China Business Association, Honduras Investment and Export Development Fund all respectively reached understanding in areas such as economic and trade information exchanges, bilateral economic and trade cooperation, signing memorandum of cooperation. The signing of this memorandum would further strengthen the economic and trade exchanges among Sichuan, Ecuador, Brazil, and Honduras, helping companies to better “going out”, achieving a win-win.

Our association also set up a Sichuan Image Pavillion in the Summit, exhibiting and marketing the opening and economic and trade exchanges situations of Sichuan, also recommended economic and trade activities and expos that will be held next year by our association. Through this meeting, a wider network was formed among our association, representatives of business associations from South American countries, and companies further strengthening the economic and trade cooperation and exchanges with this region.
