Certificate of Origin (C/O for short) is a document proving that the country of origin of the export goods is the People's Republic of China, that is to say, it proves that the export goods are products naturally obtained in China or products that have undergone the main and final manufacturing and processing processes in China, and that the manufacturing and processing processes have substantially changed the shape, nature, form or use of the main raw materials used, which is in line with the requirements of the People's Republic of China Provisions for the Implementation of the Rules of the Origin for Export Goods of the People's Republic of China. The importing country requires the exporting country to provide C/O, which is one of the preconditions to pay for the goods and ensure the goods to pass through the customs of the importing country. This practice has become a common practice in the world and is widely used in international trade.

According to the regulations of the People's Republic of China on the origin of import and export goods, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and its authorized local branches are the issuing authority of China's certificate of origin.
