On June 26, 2017, Li Gang, president of CCPIT Sichuan Council, met with a delegation led by Ms. Dolana Msimang, Ambassador of South Africa to China, and the political counselor Ms. Kristen Rossi. The delegation led by ambassador Msimang were invited to attend the BRICS Film Festival and made a special trip to CCPIT Sichuan Council.

President Li Gang introduced to ambassador Msimang the economic development in Sichuan Province and South Africa in recent years, the participation of enterprises organized by the Council in exhibitions held in South Africa and the establishment of representative office of CCPIT Sichuan Council in South Africa, pointed out that CCPIT Sichuan Council would attach great importance to the economic, trade and investment cooperation with South Africa and send delegations to visit South Africa every year to facilitate cooperation in various fields such as tourism, agricultural food and alcohol and mutual exchange of needed products and achieve common development.

Ambassador Msimang introduced to Li Gang that the South African Embassy in China will hold celebration activities in several key cities in China next year for the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and South Africa and responding to the "high-level talent exchange mechanism" proposed by the vice premier Liu Yandong during her visit to South Africa in April this year. She hoped to get the support of CCPIT Sichuan Council in the series of activities to be held in Chengdu. Meanwhile, she also actively invited CCPIT Sichuan Council to organize a delegation to participate in the "2017 South Africa Tourism Fair" to be held in Durban in May next year.

President Li Gang responded positively to ambassador Msimang's invitation and stated that CCPIT Sichuan Council will actively cooperate with the South African Embassy in organizing next year's economic and trade activities to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Africa and will invite member companies to attend the relevant activities. Meanwhile the South African Embassy in China is welcomed to organize food and alcohol enterprises in South Africa to hold fair meetings in Sichuan and business talks with Sichuan enterprises. CCPIT Sichuan Council will also actively consider organizing tourism enterprises to participate in the South Africa Tourism Fair to be held in Durban next year.

Both sides also reached agreements on the future cooperation between CCPIT Sichuan Council and the South African Embassy in China and establishment of a platform for enterprises in Sichuan and South Africa to promote exchanges and cooperation.
