The 13th China-LAC Entrepreneurs Summit, jointly sponsored by CCPIT, Ministry of Trade, Industry, Agriculture and Commerce of Panama and the Inter-American Development Bank, was held in Panama City, capital of Panama, from December 9 to 11, 2019, with the theme of “Deepen the ‘Belt and Road’ International Cooperation and Promote the Common Development and Prosperity of China and Latin America”, attracted 1300 representatives from China and Latin American and the Caribbean countries. 17 provincial and municipal CCPIT sub-council sent delegations to attend the meeting. Mr. Wang Zhimin, Vice President of CCPIT Sichuan Council, led a delegation to attend the summit.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, President of Panama, Mr. Liu Qibao, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, Mr. Lu Pengqi, Vice Chairman of CCPIT delivered speeches and keynote speeches respectively. President Liu pointed out that China and Latin America are important representatives of developing countries and emerging market countries, with strong economic complementarities, mutually consistent development strategies and fruitful cooperation in various fields. China is willing to strengthen policy communication and coordination with Latin American countries, deepen economic and trade cooperation and people to people and cultural exchanges, work together to build a community of shared future for China and Latin America, and jointly promote the construction of an open world economy. President Lu pointed out in his speech that China has become the second largest trade partner of Latin America. At the second China International Import Expo held last month, the high-quality agricultural products and textiles of Latin American countries were loved by Chinese buyers. With the two sides promoting the Belt and Road Initiative, China-Latin American economic and trade cooperation has bright and broad prospects.

Mr. Lu Pengqi, Vice President of CCPIT Gave Speech

On December 10, CCPIT organized and held a round table meeting for China and Latin America trade promotion institutions and business associations. President Lu attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He pointed out that China and Latin America’s economic and trade relations have a strong momentum of development. He hoped that China Latin America trade promotion agencies and business associations will further strengthen cooperation, actively guide China Latin America Industry and business to expand cooperation areas, promote cooperation in key areas, strengthen cooperation in information communication and commercial legal services, take into account the interests and concerns of all parties, and provide strong support for enterprises to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

During the summit, Mr. Wang, Vice President of CCPIT Sichuan Council reported our work to Mr. Lu, and had in-depth exchanges with the heads of chambers of commerce of other countries,  visited China-Latin America Trade and Investment Exhibition, and invited the heads of business associations and business representatives to visit Sichuan, to strengthen economic and trade ties and promote the development of bilateral enterprises with more practical cooperation.

Prior to the summit, Mr. Wang also visited the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE), the Office Economy-Commercial of the Chinese Embassy in Mexico, the Representative Office of CCPIT in Mexico, ProColombia, the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, the Colombian-China Chamber of Commerce for Investment and Trade, the Office Economy-Commercial of the Chinese Embassy in Colombia and the Panama Chamber of Commerce for Trade, Industry and Agriculture.
