CCPIT Sichuan Council held "Online Seminar on Opportunities and Challenges for Sichuan Enterprises to Explore Russian Market"

——Promoting economic and trade cooperation between Sichuan and Russia

On August 27, 2020, the " Online Seminar on Opportunities and Challenges for Sichuan Enterprises to Explore Russian Market " , sponsored by CCPIT Sichuan Council and co-sponsored by Sichuan Branch of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, representative office of Sichuan International Chamber of Commerce in Russia, and Sichuan chamber of Commerce of Russia and CIS countries, was held simultaneously online and offline in Business & Innovation Centre for China-Europe Cooperation. Mr. Li Jingyuan, Minister of economic and Commercial Office of Chinese Embassy in Russia, Mr. Glaziev Sergey Yurievich, Minister of Integration and Macro Economy of Eurasian Economic Commission, and Mrs. Huang Li, President of CCPIT Sichuan Council, addressed the meeting. Meanwhile, leading experts from the political, business, financial and legal circles of China and Russia were invited to focus on agriculture, forestry, electric power and other key fields to explain and share in detail the Russian market environment, investment opportunities, legal and financial support, Sichuan-Russia cooperation experience, etc. 27 enterprises and more than 4000 people online attended the meeting. Mrs. Lei Xuejie, vice president of CCPIT Sichuan Council, presided over the meeting.

In her speech, president Huang Li expressed gratitude to all the guests for their support for the work of CCPIT Sichuan Council. She pointed out that China and Russia are connected by mountains and rivers, with a high degree of mutual trust in politics and a high degree of complementarities in economy. As the most dynamic regional economy in Western China, Sichuan has a good foundation for cooperation with Russia. From January to June this year, the import and export trade of Sichuan and Russia rose against the trend, with a year-on-year increase of 50.8%. CCPIT Sichuan Council has long been committed to promoting economic and trade exchanges between Sichuan and Russia. This well-organized online seminar will surely bring new opportunities for the continuous deepening of cooperation between Sichuan and Russia. In the next step, the advantages of the representative office of Sichuan International Chamber of Commerce in Russia will continue to be exerted to contribute to the cooperation between Sichuan and Russia.

Speech by Ms.Huang Li, President of CCPIT Sichuan Council

Minister Li Jingyuan pointed out that the overall fundamentals of Sino-Russian economic and trade cooperation were stable and still showed high resilience during the epidemic period. Sichuan Province has a strong desire for foreign cooperation, and cooperation with Russia has a foundation, achievements and potential. The China-Europe Railway Express from Chengdu to Russia has become the most efficient, stable and competitive railway freight direct train in China. It is hoped that Sichuan enterprises can further understand the Russian market and connect their cooperation intentions through the seminar.

Minister Mr. Glaziev specially sent a congratulatory letter to the seminar. He pointed out that on October 25, 2019, “The Economic and Trade Cooperation Agreement between the People's Republic Of China And The Eurasian Economic Union” officially entered into force, which laid a legal foundation for the cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and China. Belt and Road Initiative will be further developed in China in the future.

Delegates listen carefully to the interpretation of guests

After the meeting, representatives exchanged views and discussed the opportunities and prospects of cooperation with Russia in different fields such as logistics, hardware and electrical machinery, economy and trade. They expressed that the seminar was rich in content, strong in guidance and close to the actual situation of enterprises. Their next step will be carefully studied and judged under the guidance of CCPIT Sichuan Council and the representative office of Sichuan International Chamber of Commerce in Russia to seize the opportunities of Sichuan Russia cooperation.
