On December 15, the Sichuan Day of China Pavilion at the 2020 Dubai World Expo, with the theme of "Cooperative Innovation, Tianfu Opportunities" kicked off online and offline simultaneously in Dubai, Chengdu and Chongqing, and 3.54 million people at home and abroad watched the event through simultaneous webcasts. 

An opening performance of "Happy Tour in Sichuan" kicked off the Sichuan Day. The combination of the artificial intelligence virtual host "Chuanchuan" and the live host is refreshing. The three places of Dubai, Chengdu and Chongqing are linked together, online and offline interact on the same screen, and the Dubai World Expo has begun to enter "Sichuan Time".

At the opening ceremony, Li Yunze, Vice Governor of the Sichuan Provincial Government, shared new data and new achievements in Sichuan's development with online and offline guests at the opening ceremony, and reviewed the economic and trade cooperation between Sichuan and the UAE. It is understood that Sichuan's GDP ranks sixth in the country, reaching 4.86 trillion yuan in 2020, and is expected to reach a level of 5 trillion yuan in 2021; in 2020, the total import and export volume exceeds 800 billion yuan, ranking eighth in the country. The host of this World Expo, the UAE, is Sichuan’s important economic and trade partner in the Middle East. The two sides have in-depth cooperation in the fields of mutual government visits, economy and trade, humanities, agriculture, and tourism. In 2015, Chengdu and Dubai have opened direct flights. In 2020, The total import and export volume of Sichuan-Arab States is 5.58 billion yuan, and it has exceeded 6.77 billion yuan in the first October of 2021.

Zhang Shenfeng, Commissioner General of China Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai and Vice Chairman of CCPIT, said through a video that Sichuan is an important economic center and consumption center in western China and is vigorously implementing a comprehensive opening up and cooperation strategy to accelerate integration into the "Belt and Road" international cooperation and the integration of the world economy. The Sichuan Day will display the colorful Sichuan in a three-dimensional, comprehensive and vivid manner.

The UAE is the host of this Expo. At the event, Mr. Ali Tashiri, UAE Ambassador to China, introduced the Dubai World Expo in the form of a video speech. He said that the Dubai World Expo China Pavilion showcases China’s outstanding achievements in science, technology and sustainable development. While Dubai Expo 2020 will bring business opportunities to the UAE, it will also create more new opportunities for Chinese companies to develop in the UAE.

In order to further strengthen the economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan Province and the UAE, CCPIT Sichuan and Sichuan Chamber of International Commerce established a representative office in the UAE based on the UAE Sichuan-Chongqing Chamber of Commerce Association. At the event, Huang Li, president of CCPIT Sichuan, awarded the plaque to Yu Shili, president of the UAE Sichuan-Chongqing Chamber of Commerce Association. It is understood that the CCPIT Sichuan have established regular business contacts with 204 business associations and economic organizations in 74 countries, and have established representative offices in 17 countries relying on overseas Sichuan Business Associations and Sichuan enterprises.

The signing ceremony of Sichuan-Arab cooperation project was also held on the same day. A signing ceremony was conducted in the form of online, Sichuan Chamber of International Commerce and Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry China Representative Office, Sichuan International Chamber of Commerce Middle East Market Professional Committee and UAE Chinese Overseas Chinese Federation, Huaheng Xintian Chengdu Industrial Co., Ltd. and UAE Bumur Commodities Co., Ltd. A cooperation agreement signed agreements respectively.
