On April 3, 2023, Mrs. Lei Xuejie, Vice President of CCPIT Sichuan Council met with Ambassador Gilberto Moura, the head of the working group of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prepare for the opening of the Brazilian Consulate General in Chengdu.

Vice President Lei Xuejie welcomed the visit of Ambassador Gilberto Moura and his delegation, focusing on the new opportunities faced by Sichuan's opening-up and development, as well as the outstanding advantages of CCPIT Sichuan Council's external and internal enterprises. She pointed out that relying on the platform of the China Latin American Entrepreneurs Summit, CCPIT Sichuan Council has established long-term friendly cooperation with the Brazilian business community. In 2022, the total import and export volume between Sichuan and Brazil increased by 34.8% year-on-year, reaching 14.179 billion Yuan. The establishment of the Consulate General of Brazil in Chengdu will promote practical cooperation between the two sides in areas such as economy, trade, tourism, agriculture, and invite participation in key activities such as the CAPAS, Smart Expo, and Integration and procurement Fair. We will continue to tap into the potential of bilateral investment and trade and jointly promote cooperation.

Ambassador Gilberto Moura thanked the CCPIT Sichuan Council for its introduction. He stated that his visit to Sichuan to prepare for the opening of the Brazilian Consulate General in Chengdu has left a deep impression on the development of Sichuan and Chengdu. He will further strengthen exchanges and communication with the CCPIT Sichuan Council, welcome the Sichuan delegation to visit Brazil, and jointly promote more cooperation between the two sides in fields such as agriculture, mining, tourism, medical and pharmaceutical industries, and high-tech.

Relevant personnel from the International Relations Department and the Secretariat of the Sichuan Chamber of International Commerce attended the meeting.
